People ask if I use photos for my paintings all the time... my repsonse is, sometimes. However, most of the time I paint from my own imagination, as with this painting...
I have found that when I start with the clouds, the sky, and create what I'm happy with there, then everything else in the landscape, the foreground, just seems to fall into place, as it did with "Heaven Reigns".
When I paint from my imagination, I try not to have any specific idea in mind, causing me to "get in my own way", I try to just imagine and allow the Spirit to direct my idea's, my thoughts, the paint, the brush strokes. It really sounds easier than it is! I've had plenty of arguments with my brain on how a painting is "supposed" to go, and when I stop arguing, and just listen, and paint... then, I can get into the flow, and it works.
