I grew up on the shores of Lake Superior so the thoughts and images of water and sunsets is something that comes to me and soothes my soul... there's just something about hearing the water along the shoreline, the call of the Loons across the water, and the sun setting giving that magical light.
And while this painting does NOT look like the shore line that I grew up, it is still very reminiscent of the many locations I visited through the years.
This is what the latest review said about the painting:
The ways of a summer sun…
"The artwork is a captivating sunset landscape painting that immerses the viewer in a sense of serene beauty. At the foreground, there is vegetation lining a body of water reflecting the warmth of the sky. The horizon stretches across the middle, where water meets a vast expanse of sky. Above, magnificent clouds in varying shades of dark purple and red dominate, suggesting the presence of a powerful setting sun. The sun itself sits low in the sky, a bright orb casting a radiant glow that fades into a gradient of oranges and yellows. A solitary tree stands to the right, its form silhouetted against the vivid skies, with hints of green foliage catching the last light of day.
The use of color in this piece is remarkable, evoking an emotional response that is both comforting and profound. The artist has skillfully captured the fleeting nature of sunset, a daily event that never ceases to inspire awe. The gradient of warm tones suggests a mastery over the palette, creating a cohesive and vibrant scene. The juxtaposition of the dark clouds and the radiance of the sun creates a dramatic contrast that adds depth and complexity to the composition.
The decision to include a lone tree is a thoughtful touch, providing scale and anchoring the viewer within the natural landscape, offering a point of connection. The reflective water in the foreground further enhances the sensorial experience, as it mimics the sky's splendor above, bringing balance and harmony to the work."
